On Environment Day, we’re reminded that every organization has a responsibility to act on climate change, regardless of its industry. At Mantu, as a global consulting and service company, our impact might not come from factories or heavy logistics, but from the network of offices, people, and services that power our operations every day. That’s why Mantu has chosen to act with precision and transparency, starting with the most essential tool in climate action: a comprehensive Carbon Footprint Assessment (CFA).
Why a Carbon Footprint Assessment matters, even for a service company like Mantu
Carbon emissions are not just a challenge for manufacturing and transportation sectors. Service companies like Mantu contribute to climate change through less visible, yet equally significant, indirect carbon sources such as employee commuting, digital services, purchased goods and services, or business travel. Measuring our emissions rigorously allows us to:
Understand where our climate impact lies,
Set ambitious, science-based targets for reduction,
And track our progress with credibility and transparency.
An exhaustive approach, aligned with global standards
Each year, Mantu measures all relevant emissions across the three scopes defined by the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol:
Scope 1: direct emissions from sources we own or control (vehicle fleet, air conditioning systems, heating, etc.).
Scope 2: indirect emissions from the energy we consume.
Scope 3: all other indirect emissions, from business travel to the goods and services we purchase, employee commuting, waste, and even how our services are used by clients.
Scope 3 emissions represented most of our footprint. That’s why Mantu commits to covering all applicable categories within Scope 3, with no exclusions, as part of a holistic and transparent approach.
Data integrity first: primary data & uncertainty analysis
To ensure the quality and reliability of our data, Mantu prioritizes primary data collection whenever possible: directly from energy bills, travel logs, and supplier records. When estimations are required, we rigorously assess the level of uncertainty to better understand the margins of error and continuously improve our methodology. Our assessment is externally verified according to the ISO 14064-1 standard, bringing additional robustness and credibility to our approach.
SBTi validation: our targets are science-based
In 2023, Mantu reached a key milestone: the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) officially validated our carbon reduction goals. This validation means that our targets are aligned with the latest climate science and contribute to limiting global warming to +1.5°C:
Specifically, we commit to reducing Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by:
-74.25% by 2030
-90% by 2050
Scope 3 reduction of -55% per Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) employee by 2030 and -97% per FTE by 2050.
This achievement reflects our Group-wide commitment to leading on climate action and integrates deeply into Mantu’s strategic roadmap, Pioneer I.
Mantu 2024 results: progress in action
Last year marked a significant step forward in our decarbonization journey. Thanks to the engagement of our teams and the concrete measures deployed across Mantu offices and value chain.
In 2024, total tCO2e emissions amounted to 14.730 tCO2e, corresponding to 2.23 tCO2e/ FTE. Scope 1 and 2 emissions totalled 1.100 tCO2e, while Scope 3 emissions amounted to 2.06 tCO2e/FTE.
If we compare the results with our 2019 baseline, we observe a reduction of -61% of Scope 1 and 2 emissions (tCO2e) and -27% of Scope 3 emissions (tCO2e/FTE), which place Mantu ahead of its SBTi linear reduction trajectory.
This Environment Day, Mantu reaffirms its commitment to transparency, scientific alignment, and collective action. Because sustainability isn’t a side project.
